Today we will talk about cup cake.yeah...,This is not the cake as you imagine here,but we will talk about android operating system for hand phone.The android cup cake is the version of second update of android system.
The upcoming Android 1.5 ‘Cupcake’ update is likely to cause a few issues with existing Android applications according to a blog post on the Android developer blog.
Whilst the 1.5 Cupcake update promises to bring new features and functionality to the Android platform, but according to Dan Morrill “some of you will need to fix some problems in your apps before you can start taking advantage of Android 1.5.”
Google have tested a number of the most popular Android apps available from the Android Market and have discovered that a large number were broken due to “bad techniques” within the development.
In order to aid developers in updating their apps, and for new developers looking to get started with the 1.5 SDK, Google have created a list of five things to avoid when building an Android app.
The five techniques to avoid include:
- Using Internal APIs
- Directly Manipulating Settings
- Going Overboard with Layouts
- Bad Hardware Assumptions
- Incautious Rotations

Based on Linux kernel 2.6.27. On 30 April 2009, the official 1.5 (Cupcake) update for Android was released. There were several new features and UI updates included in the 1.5 update:
- Virtual keyboard: Support for 3rd party keyboards with text prediction & user dictionary for custom words
- Widgets: Are miniature application views that can be embedded in other applications (such as the Home screen) and receive periodic updates
- Camera: Video recording
- Gallery: Video playback (MPEG-4 & 3GP formats)
- Bluetooth: Stereo support added (A2DP and AVRCP profiles), Auto-pairing
- Browser: Copy and paste features added
- Contacts: Shows user picture for Favorites
- Dialer: Specific date/time stamp for events in call log and one-touch access to a contact card from call log event
- System: Animated screen transitions
- Upload videos to YouTube
- Upload photos on Picasa
